True to its name, loop pile carpet is characterised by its construction — numerous small loops of yarn that remain uncut on the surface. This unique looped texture gives the carpet a distinct, uniform appearance. Due to these qualities, loop pile carpet was a popular choice for automotive interiors, particularly during the 1960s through the mid-1980s — a period when comfort, practicality, and aesthetic appeal were becoming increasingly important in vehicle design.
This type of carpet is typically manufactured using high-quality nylon yarn, a synthetic fibre renowned for its strength, stain resistance, and longevity. Produced at a density of 500 grams per square metre (gsm), this carpet provides a well-balanced combination of softness, cushioning, and wear resistance — maintaining its structure over time, even under frequent foot traffic or the shifting of car seats and floor mats.

Plush pile carpet, also known as cut pile, is crafted using a construction method similar to loop pile, but with a key difference — the yarn loops are cut at the top, resulting in an upright, velvety texture that feels soft and smooth underfoot. This gives the carpet a refined, elegant appearance that has made it a preferred choice for automotive interiors from the mid-1980s to the present day.
One of the defining features of plush pile is its higher yarn density, which measures approximately 750 grams per square metre (gsm). This increased density enhances the carpet's plushness and tactile comfort, giving it a noticeably richer texture. Manufactured using nylon, plush pile carpets are engineered to resist wear, fading, and matting — even in areas subject to frequent foot traffic or direct sunlight.

Super Plush pile carpet takes the concept of plush pile to the next level — same cut pile construction but with an even higher yarn density of 950 grams per square metre (gsm). This results in an exceptionally thick, dense, and luxurious carpet that offers a truly premium look and feel. The extra weight adds not only visual richness but also a cushion-like underfoot sensation that enhances comfort within the vehicle.
Originally introduced in the early 1970s, Super Plush was featured in top-tier models such as the SLE Commodores, Ford LTDs, and Statesmans. In addition to its aesthetic appeal, Super Plush offers excellent durability thanks to its dense fibre structure, which resists crushing and wear over time — especially suitable for restoration projects or custom builds where a high-end, period-correct interior is desired.

Classic Loop Pile is our most robust and durable carpet option, specifically designed to replicate the original automotive carpeting used by manufacturers during the 1960s through the 1970s. Constructed from high-quality nylon, this carpet faithfully mirrors the look, feel, and durability of the materials found in classic vehicles of that era — a perfect choice for restoration projects and enthusiasts seeking authenticity.
This carpet style features a tightly woven, chaotic loop texture which closely resembles the somewhat irregular appearance of original factory carpet from that period. Classic Loop Pile accurately reflects the interiors of iconic models such as the HK–HG Holden, XT–XY Falcon, Valiant Charger, and many others. Available in a wide selection of original factory-matched colours.
